War. War never changes.
The year is 2291. Two-hundred and fourteen years after the Great War which left the world a desolate wasteland, and eight years after the end of the war which decided the fate of the Mojave. New Vegas enjoys a time of great prosperity under the powerful and charismatic Mr. House and the Courier who served as his hand in the Mojave. The New California Republic retains holdings in settlements such as the NCR Embassy and the Mojave Outpost, but with the Securitron army to protect New Vegas and Hoover Dam and enforce the rule of House, the need for the Republic was more or less eliminated. The only reason they had not been entirely removed from the Mojave was because of House's benevolence, although the caps in their pockets likely factored into his decision just the same.
But not all shared the fortune of the NCR. The Mojave Chapter of the Brotherhood was forced to leave the Hidden Valley bunker in a mass exodus when the Courier alerted them that House did not wish them to remain and would forceably evict them if he had to. This seed of doubt, as well as the Courier's seizing of the bunker's self-destruct codes, drove them to step out of bunker and into the Mojave Wasteland, where they were left to their own fates as the Courier collapsed their old home beneath their feet. Many followed in the footsteps of a revolutionary young scribe and became doctors and researchers with the Followers of the Apocalypse. Some even managed to swallow their pride and became NCR citizens, where they lived the rest of their lives in relative peace, even if they had to work to keep their pasts hidden sometimes. Those who did not stray from the Codex's regime, however, moved north into Oregon and Idaho before eventually reaching Washington, where those who made the journey joined up with the Seattle Chapter of the Brotherhood.
However, the worst blow came to the once-mighty Legion. Determined as they were to fight for Caesar, the Legion was already facing a tough fight against the NCR. The sudden and unexpected arrival of House's Securitron army crushed them and their morale. With Caesar leading them, the Legion retreated from the Fort and fled back across the Colorado into Arizona. It was not until later that they learned that Lanius was not among them,. A new Legate, known as Manus, has since filled Lanius' place, and he has proved no less brutal, but the Legion still remains somewhat weakened by their defeat. However, the revenge in their heart grows by the day. Some day, they know, Caesar will lead them back to that wall. And on that day, they shall take it.
But this isn't a story about emperors and armies. This is a story that starts with a group of mercenaries, a caravan, and a small town called Pikesville somewhere in Utah.
Oh, yes. You've know the story too, either from the static-y broadcast or that young crier in Freeside. You know that Jack Harvey, owner of the small, independent caravan company known simply as "Harvey Caravans", is looking for caravan guards for a quick journey into Utah. You also know that he's paying big caps for the help. But most importantly, you know that you could use the caps.
Which is why you're here. Just outside of the one small, worn-out looking saloon in Goodsprings. Where the next chapter of your story lies just beyond the swing of an dusty, battered wood door...
RULES:
1) The house always wins.
CHARACTER SHEET:
Name:
Race: (Ghoul, Human, or Super Mutant/Nightkin. If you're human, please specify if your character is Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, et cetera.)
Sex:
Age:
Appearance: (Pictures appreciated.)
Weapons: (Be realistic about what you're using. If you've got a missile launcher, you'll run out of ammo fast and recovering ammo won't be easy. Be aware that weapons can also jam and break on you if not properly maintained.)
Armor: (Again, try to be realistic. If you've got power armor, there needs to be a reason why you know how to use it. Heavier armor will also slow your mobility and might keep you from entering tight spaces.)
Miscellaneous Equipment: (This includes food, trinkets, et cetera.)
S.P.E.C.I.A.L: (Base of 5 in each, with an additional 5 to spend as you please.)
Tag Skills: (Up to three. These are your primary skills, so choose wisely.)
Other Skills: (Maximum of two. These are secondary skills, so your proficiency in them will be somewhat limited.)
Traits: (Optional. Up to two. Traits from New Vegas and it's add-ons accepted.)
Racial Attributes: (This slot is for the disadvantages/advantages of your chosen race. If you're a ghoul, you'd be immune to (and in fact healed by) radiation, but you are probably not going to fare as well in social situations concerning humans. Super Mutants will have increased strength and naturally tough skin and bones, but you will also be more of a target and be less agile. You'll also be more or less unable to fit in tight spaces and probably won't be regarded in the best ways by humans.)
Advantages/Weaknesses: (Don't be afraid to be specific about what does and does not play into your character's wheelhouse!)
Biography: (You don't have to, but we'd love to hear more about you!)
